OK so admittedly I didn’t take many pictures while I was in Fernie, to be completely honest it’s taken me until this last couple months to pick my camera up and take pictures for the sheer joy of it again. I had become quite burnt out trying my hand at wedding photography and it began to foster a sort of ‘Only for money’ mentality putting a bit of a block on why I got into photography in the first place, to create and share. Here however are some snaps I did take, of a few of the people that made up my experience in the wonderfully rough around the edges town that is Fernie, this is what makes a place after all, the beauty and the variety of the people you meet from all over the world who just by chance decided to come to this random little place in the East Kootenays and they become your people, like you’ve never existed without them, they become your family.
Spring Skate Days
This season was very much laced with injury for me, with a partially torn ACL and a dislocated shoulder to finish up the season. Lots to navigate through but six winter seasons without an injury until now, so I’m taking that as a win! That being said most of these snaps were taken while I was injured as I was no longer selfishly enjoying the snow! These next few are from spring shoulder season, this is when the winter has finished, the ski hill is closed and the summer jobs are yet to start up. For me and my gang that meant lots of board games on rainy days and lots of skate days on the sunnier ones! Here are some of my lovely pals enjoying some days out in between the rain.
